escape from old york...

something very dangerous happened over the past few days... possibly for a little longer...

allow me to update: from austin, i went back home and had horribly fabulous diner food with ms. wowi wafflethon in DC... then off to fabulous NYC, which surprisingly enough welcomed me with open arms... i know, i know Lindas scoffing...

got in on valentines day (oy - i really hope he was one of those saints who was dismembered and grilled as his martyrdom) and had excellent time with alyssa and ill leave it at that! Tuesday did the cloisters, saw the cristo "gates of central park" installation - which was comparable to 75% off day at Home Depot... and also had a chance to do the Jewish Museum!!! very exciting... excellent collection, and ive wanted to jew it up for awhile as most of you know...

(mild rant: Leeds is NOT a thriving jewish (or gay) community... telling this to a boy thats been to New York more times than he can shake a stick at - i had to bite my tounge... it is, at best, a poor mans pittsburgh... no, pittsburgh is fabulous... its more like dayton. mashugana englishe goyen!!!)

AND i got to go to Zabars!!! (get some nosh meanwhile?) and picked up much needed supplies and some tchotchke...

top that day off with lunch on top of the Met, dinner at New City Diner and i can honestly say i had the best day ive had in recent memory.... ESPECIALLY since moving to the UK.

Part deaux:

today lyss and i met up with the fabulous JANNA SLACK, got some omphin' bagels and lox (REAL bagels and lox Missy!!!) + hot chocolate and stood in line for tickets in Times Square - went to the Bethesda Fountain (a la angels in america) and sat around blowing bubbles (thanks mike and christa!)... then up to Washington Heights to see Yeshiva and Jannas bitchin' crib and then to the show... Hair Spray!!! which, until recently has Harvey Feinstein - but he defected to Fiddler on the Roof. eh, times are a changin' Matthew Connor(owitz)...

meanwhile, did dinner in chelsea and walked around lower manhattan (your just sweet meat in the village) for a bit and headed back... as another shout out to missy... christopher street!!!

seriously, best two days EVER. and made me think loads... something like:

york is offering me what? old stones and irate british people?
am i really content there? this house is not a home! or at least not entirely...
who invented liquid soap and why?

and being surrounded by a SIZABLE (aka all) community of gays, jews, italians (sound familiar?) and general culture... lets say it was just what this boy needed at the exact moment he needed it.

so whats the deal you say? am i abandoning Old York for the New? my lips are sealed because i dont want to jinx anything... but geres are moving and things are in the works...

ive got a jewish grandmother to visit meanwhile, matzah ball soup and latkes to eat... and a speech to give on my life to a high school tomorrow.

*Bling*

much love from the promised land. - Mxx

also, ive been plagued with lyle lovitt's "texas wants you anyway" ever since that damn imax movie on texas i saw in austin... Argh!

If you want, I can email you an MP3 of that song...it was playing when I was picked up at Austin airport the first time I visited. Texas wants you anyway Matt, maybe you should look at Rice or UT.
